UWF Argos Spent Thanksgiving Preparing for Big Playoff Game

Pensacola, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- While most families were relaxing, watching football, and sleeping off the turkey yesterday, the UWF Argos were out practicing. They've got a big one this weekend - hosting Newberry College from South Carolina in the NCAA Division II playoffs. It's actually the fourth time in eight years the Argos have spent Thanksgiving on the practice field. Head coach Kaleb Nobles - who was UWF's very first starting quarterback back in 2016 - says the team enjoys the holiday but stays locked in on the job ahead. A win tomorrow would put UWF one step away from the semifinals. And wide receiver Marcus Stokes just picked up a big honor - he's been named a nominee for the Harlon Hill Trophy, the top individual award in Division II football.
