Opening arguments have started in the trial of a Fort Walton Beach woman accused of killing her infant son in a botched murder-suicide attempt. It was back in March of 2020 when 35-year-old Maria Barnes and 5-month-old Jaxxon Barnes were found inside a car at the Okaloosa Beach Boardwalk. Prosecutors say that Barnes killed her son and tried killing herself after her husband asked for a divorce.
