Gulf Breeze, FL (NewsRadio 92-3) The Gulf Breeze Zoo is giving thanks this holiday season for some early arrivals. On Friday, the zoo announced the birth of three baby giraffes. Its animal care staff had been anticipating the births for the past 15 months, which is the average gestation period for giraffes. On Oct. 22, Artemis gave birth to a female calf named Arrow. Soon to follow, on Oct. 25, Sophia gave birth to a male calf named Salem. And then on Oct. 27, Kelly gave birth to the female calf Kaliape. Officials say all three calves are healthy and will soon start spending time on exhibit.
