Taddeo, Former CFO Sink Rally Support as Florida's CFO Race Deadlocked

Democratic nominee Annette Taddeo is bringing in heavyweight support as the race for Florida Chief Financial Officer remains competitive heading into the final stretch. Former CFO Alex Sink will join Taddeo for a virtual press conference Thursday morning to discuss recent polling showing the race tied at 42% each for Taddeo and Republican Blaise Ingoglia, with 16% of voters still undecided.

The campaign is banking on a specific electoral playbook: winning independent voters. According to the latest survey, Taddeo leads among voters with no party affiliation by 12 points—a margin that echoes Sink's successful 2006 campaign for the same office. That year, Sink trailed overall in October polling but won the general election after dominating with independent voters by 11 points. "Twenty years later, we're seeing similar dynamics," a campaign statement noted.

Taddeo is also pressing the accountability angle, calling for a legislative investigation into taxpayer-funded criminal defense legal fees for the Chief of Staff of Republican rival Ingoglia, citing questions about financial oversight and the CFO's responsibility to protect taxpayer dollars. The press conference, scheduled for 9:45 a.m. Thursday via Zoom, will focus on independent voter dynamics, the latest polling, and Taddeo's platform of affordability, accountability, and anti-corruption.
