Strong winds recorded at NAS Pensacola Friday evening

The National Weather Service station at Naval Air Station Pensacola recorded a peak wind gust of 55 knots (roughly 63 mph) from the north-northeast Friday evening around 9:43 p.m., according to automated weather observations.

The reading came as light rain moved through the area, with cloud cover reported between 1,500 and 2,100 feet. Barometric pressure was falling at the time of the observation, with readings around 29.52 inches of mercury.

The strong gust was part of a broader wind event across the region, with sustained winds around 34 knots (39 mph) reported during the same period.
