SEARCH FOR MISSING KAYAKER IN SANTA ROSA COUNTY

Authorities are searching today for a missing kayaker in Santa Rosa County. Santa Rosa County dispatch received a call around 11:15 p.m. yesterday regarding a man who went out in the water on a kayak but never returned. A search began last night before continuing this (Friday) morning. A kayak was recovered on a piling underneath the Escambia Bay Bridge, but the man remains missing. FWC, the Coast Guard and the Avalon Fire Department are all working on the search with boats. The Coast Guard and FWC also have helicopters that will be part of the search. No further details were released.
