A Santa Rosa County resident has raised some concerns that outgoing commissioner James Calkins may no longer live in the county.
"Commissioner Calkins no longer lives in his district," Said outspoken Santa Rosa County resident Sherry Chapman during a public comment session at Tuesday's BOCC Committee meeting. "He no longer is residing in the county, so therefore he should not be part of any voting in the next two meetings."
Calkins was not present at the meeting to respond to Chapman's comments -- Commissioner Parker said he had encountered a traffic accident on his way to work and stopped to help stranded motorists. There's no official word regarding whether Calkins has moved from Santa Rosa County or not.
This comes amid rumors that Calkins was planning on moving to pursue running for office in Walton County after losing his District 2 seat in Santa Rosa County.
Thursday's meeting would be Calkins last, as new commissioners Rhett Rowell and Bobby Burkett will be sworn on November 19th.
