SANTA ROSA COUNTY COULD AIM FOR STATE'S LARGEST AMERICAN FLAG

Santa Rosa County leaders appear set to begin a process that could end with the county being the new home of Florida's largest American flag. The idea was proposed by District 3 Commissioner James Calkins. Under his idea, the flag would be housed at the administrative complex, although that's not set in stone. Between now and Thursday's meeting, county staff is working to come up with estimates on the cost. Commission Chairman Sam Parker suggested the cost come through the county's tourism tax dollars, and tying the flag to the county's tourism marketing efforts.
