Sam's Lounge Shooter Gets 30-Year Sentence on Manslaughter Charge

Escambia County, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- It's 30-years in prison for the man convicted of shooting and killing Damon Caldwell at Sam's Lounge in July of 2023. 40-year-old Michael Rodriguez was in court for his sentencing on Wednesday. He was found guilty of manslaughter by a jury last month. Caldwell's family members spoke in court, saying his absence is felt every day, and describing him as a generous and thoughtfull man who left a lasting impression. Rodriguez's wife Deomi Polyzos also faces charges in the case -- prosecutors say she helped her husband evade arrest following the shooting. She's due in court today.
