120924 (WEAR) Resources at Escambia County's Animal Shelter are strained after the Beggs Lane Homeless Camp was vacated. Beggs Lane was home to more than 150 homeless individuals and 41 animals inside the camp: 33 dogs/puppies, 7 cats, and a 200-pound pig. Since the camp was cleared, the Waterfront Rescue Mission says it has been overwhelmed by demand for services. The animals found at the camp are on a 10-day hold, minus the pig. They will then be put up for adoption.
