Chappie James Monument Foundation at Impasse — City Exploring Options for F-4 Phantom Display

Pensacola, FL (NewsRadio 92.3) -- City officials say the Chappie James Monument project has reached an impasse at the foundation level — with efforts to raise money for the display of the F-4 Phantom aircraft stalled. The city of Pensacola holds custody of the aircraft — which is owned by the Air Force Museum and currently housed at Naval Air Station Pensacola — and is responsible for its maintenance. City officials say they are actively reaching out to the aviation museum, the aircraft training facility, and foundation leadership to assess all components of the project and determine what options exist to move it forward. Mayor Reeves has made clear he wants to deliver on what was promised to the public.
