Pace residents aren't happy that the Santa Rosa County school board put a stop to fireworks at their high school football games. Former head coach Kent Smith addressed the school board yesterday, he says it's been a big morale booster for the school for 20 years. Smith said he thinks the fireworks have also helped the school with their academic achievements over the past few years, saying that the football team was named as the state 'Academic Champions' -- their football team had the highest combined GPA in the state. The vendor who provides and shoots the fireworks for the games was also at the meeting, he ended up meeting with the schools risk management director. The board says they want to work together to make the fireworks possible again.
