REACTION TO PROPOSED BOARDWALK PROJECT ON NAVARRE BEACH

About 25 people signed up to speak at Tuesday's County Commission Committee of the Whole meeting — most of them opposing a proposed boardwalk and event center on the east side of the Navarre Beach Causeway Bridge. Commission Chairman Colten Wright addressed rumors head-on, saying there was no vote planned despite online chatter. The topic wasn't on the agenda, and no vote could have been taken either way. The project's back in the spotlight because it's now out to bid — contractors have until September 3rd to respond. A Change-dot-org petition against the project had drawn nearly four-thousand signatures by meeting time.
