PPD SWAT Team Responds to Standoff with Armed Suspect

UPDATE 11:30 AM

Pensacola, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- An early morning standoff situation in Pensacola ended with one arrest and no injuries. It started with a report of a disturbance at an apartment on Gonzalez Court -- PPD says when they arrived a woman contacted officers and said she had escaped the apartment and a man that was still inside with a gun.

Spokesman Mike Wood tells WKRG that the SWAT team responded and officers attempted to get the man to come out of the apartment for several hours -- eventually officers discovered the suspect was not inside and had likely fled from a backdoor before the SWAT team had arrived. The suspect was taken into custody at another location. Charges are pending and no injuries were reported.
