Pensacola, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- There's some new information on the motorcycle crash on Gregory Street that left a rider with serious injuries last night. PPD says the rider and another driver were racing across the bridge before the crash...
"A Mustang with a female driver and the rider of the motorcycle were racing across the bridge. They were jockeying back-and-forth...at a high rate of speed across the bridge," says PPD Spokesman Mike Wood. "When they got toward the end at Gregory Street the Mustang slowed down but the motorcycle did not."
Wood says the motorcycle wasn't able to negotiate a curve and lost control going around the curve at 14th Street. PPD says the Mustang has been towed to further the investigation into the accident.
Wood says charges are possible against the Mustang driver. He tells Newsradio officers encounter street racing occasionally in Pensacola, and he says it's not tolerated, and citations will be issued if they see it.
The motorcycle rider was taken to the hospital and remains in serious condition.
