PENSACOLA MAN SENTENCED FOR WATTABURGER CARJACKING

25-year-old Stephon Dewaunn Dudley, Jr. was sentenced to 25 years in state prison for his role in a carjacking that occurred in May 2023. Dudley was found guilty by an Escambia County jury of carjacking with a firearm and robbery with a deadly weapon. The crime took place in the early hours of May 12, 2023, in the parking lot of a Whataburger on Gregory Street. Dudley, armed with a firearm, and a co-defendant forcibly took the victim's car keys, wallet, phone, gold chain, and vehicle. The stolen car was located by the Pensacola Police Department two days later. A high-speed chase ensued when the driver refused to pull over, ultimately ending in a crash which resulted in the driver's death. Dudley was found in the passenger seat, wearing a gold chain that matched the one taken from the victim And a gun containing Dudley's DNA was in the glove box of the vehicle.
