Pensacola firefighters rescue cat from storm drain

Pensacola Fire Rescue responded to an animal rescue call Wednesday when a cat became trapped in a storm drain in the city. Firefighters were able to locate and safely remove the animal from the drain, adding another successful rescue to their growing list of calls that goes well beyond structure fires.

While much of the public sees firefighters primarily as responders to blazes, crews regularly handle a variety of emergency situations including animal rescues. The successful retrieval of the cat demonstrates the versatility and training of local fire rescue personnel.

No injuries were reported during the rescue operation.
