Pensacola, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- Pensacola International Airport is moving quickly to fill the void left by Spirit Airlines' abrupt shutdown Saturday. Spirit accounted for about 7 percent of seats flying in and out of Pensacola. Airport Director Matt Coughlin says Breeze and Frontier have already stepped in to cover Spirit's Orlando and Fort Lauderdale routes. Pensacola still has seven airlines to choose from and Coughlin says passenger growth at the airport is still ahead of last year despite losing Spirit. A Chicago woman whose luggage was trapped in Spirit's locked Pensacola office has been contacted by ground staff who are working to get it back to her.
