Pace Pharmacy Owners, Employee Arrested on Pill Mill Charges

Pensacola, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- Three individuals associated with Pace Pharmacy were arrested forprescription drug trafficking yesterday, following a multi-year investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. The owners, Stephen and Monique Burklow, along with employee David Winkles, face serious charges, including conspiracy to traffic over 22 kilograms of oxycodone and other controlled substances. The investigation began in 2020 after Dr. Elaine Sharp was found to be prescribing excessive amounts of controlled substances. Investigators say the pharmacy dispensed illicit prescriptions and engaged in fraudulent billing practices. All three were taken into custody without incident and are currently held at the Santa Rosa County Jail.
