Pensacola, FL (NewsRadio 92.3) -- The city and Escambia County are partnering today for Operation Hope Day — a census of the community's homeless population and an effort to connect people experiencing homelessness to local resources. The event runs from until 2 p.m. at the Brownsville Community Center and includes support from Good Hope AME Church, the Escambia Santa Rosa Continuum of Care, and Opening Doors Northwest Florida. Pensacola Police Department community outreach specialists will be on site — the same officers who since 2023 have logged 395 interactions with homeless individuals, placed 11 people directly in shelter or housing, and referred another 22 to services.
