Okaloosa Sheriff Reacts to Horrific Accident Involving Area Teens

Okaloosa County, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- Yesterday we told you about a horrific crash in Okaloosa County over the weekend involving several high school students. The Okaloosa County sheriff's office says it's a miracle those teens all survived.

"I've never seen carnage like that where people walked away...or even escaped with their lives," Okaloosa County Sheriff Eric Aden tells Channel 3. "It's pretty brutal."

Sheriff Eric Aden says the Dodge Charger the teens were in was speeding when the crash happened. They hit another vehicle then a utility pole -- effectively splitting the car in half, and then it caught on fire.

The driver of the other vehicle also survived.

All four teens were taken to the hospital, where they are reportedly doing "better than expected." One of the teens is a student at Destin High School, the other three attend schools in the South Walton area.
