Mobile County Training School unveils Africatown mural

The Mobile County Training School revealed a new mural Friday celebrating the school's historical ties to Africatown, according to school officials. The artwork was painted by Enrique Lopez, a graduate of Mobile County Schools, and serves as a visual tribute to the community's rich cultural heritage. The mural's unveiling marks another effort by the school to honor and preserve the legacy of Africatown, one of the most historically significant African American communities in the region. Africatown, founded by formerly enslaved people brought to the U.S. aboard the Clotilda slave ship, remains an important cultural landmark in Mobile and continues to draw recognition for its contributions to American history.
