Milton, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- We learned this week that Milton is getting a new police chief to replace longtime Chief Tony Tindell when he retires. The city has hired Jennifer Frank -- and city officials say she's the right person for the job.
"She's a southern girl, she was born in the south and has family in Central Florida....so this is kind of a homecoming for her," says Milton City Manager Ed Spears. "She holds a doctorate in education," Spears says she wrote her doctoral thesis on how adult learners working for paramilitary organizations are impacted by learning.
Spears tells Newsradio that Chief Tindell has agreed to stay on until Frank starts at the end of April. Spears says Frank met the Milton City Councilmembers on Sunday and they were all "blown away."
Frank is the first female police chief in Northwest Florida, but Spears says they didn't intend on making history.... she was the right person for the job and just happened to be a female.
