MARIYA CALKINS RUNNING FOR SANTA ROSA SCHOOL BOARD SEAT

The wife of Santa Rosa Commissioner James Calkins is running for a seat on the Santa Rosa School Board. Mariya Calkins has filed as a candidate for the District 2 seat, challenging Democratic incumbent Elizabeth Hewey. Calkins currently chairs the Santa Rosa chapter of the Mom's for Liberty, a group that has been active in challenging books they believe are inappropriate for school-age kids. Back in 2022, Calkins challenged Rep. Joel Rudman in the Republican Primary and lost by a 62 to 38% margin.
