A 28-year-old Pace man was charged with first-degree murder in a 2022 fentanyl overdose death. Jimmy Forrest Robinson III was indicted for First Degree Murder by Illegal Distribution of Controlled Substances, according to the State Attorney's office. Robinson is being held responsible for the death of Derek Beckman, who was found dead at his residence on March 3, 2022. Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office investigators concluded Jimmy Robinson III sold the victim a pill containing fentanyl approximately 30 minutes prior to Beckman's fatal overdose. The Medical Examiner’s Office determined that Beckman's cause of death was due to acute fentanyl toxicity, says the State Attorney's office. Robinson is in the Santa Rosa County Jail without bond.
