MAN DIES AFTER SELF-INFLICTED GUNSHOT DURING TRAFFIC STOP

An investigation continues after a man shot himself during a traffic stop near downtown Pensacola yesterday. PPD's Mike Wood says an officer had pulled a driver over around I and Cervantes Street for having expired tags on their vehicle. The driver reportedly shot himself in the head as officers approached the truck. The man was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. Cervantes Street was briefly closed yesterday afternoon as police investigated the incident.
