TOBACCO BURGLAR FACES CHARGES -- David Wayne
A Pensacola man is facing charges for allegedly burglarizing and damaging a store on Chemstrand Road twice on the same day earlier this month. 25-year-old Christian Melendez was arrested this week. Investigators say he was caught on video prying the front door of the store open. Deputies say during his first visit to the store around $1-thousand dollars in damages were done, and hundreds of dollars worth of tobacco products were stolen. He then allegedly returned to the store and took more tobacco products and caused thousands of dollars in additional damage. Melendez was identified from the video footage and arrested later at his home, where deputies say they found the stolen tobacco items, as well as marijuana, prescription pills, firearms, and cash. He faces burglary, criminal mischief, theft, and drug charges. He's being held on $72-thousand dollars bond at the Escambia County jail.
