Major Road Work Ahead: FDOT Details Lane Closures Across Escambia, Santa Rosa This Week

Drivers in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties should prepare for significant traffic disruptions over the next week as the Florida Department of Transportation executes multiple resurfacing and construction projects on key routes.

Starting Sunday, October 25, through Thursday, October 29, nighttime lane closures will affect I-10 in two separate segments — one from the Perdido River Bridge west of U.S. 29, and another from east of U.S. 29 to east of Davis Highway. Both stretches will see intermittent closures between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. for milling, paving, and striping operations. I-110, running from I-10 to U.S. 98, will experience similar nighttime disruptions through the same period. The Nine Mile Road interchange (Exit 5) on I-10 will be reduced to one lane in each direction during those same hours through October 31.

U.S. Highway 90 (Scenic Highway) from south of I-10 to south of Hyde Park Road will also see intermittent lane closures between 8 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. Sunday through Thursday, with law enforcement and traffic flaggers on site. On the west side, U.S. 90A between the Perdido River Bridge and Beulah Road will have daytime lane closures from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for paving work.

In Escambia, S.R. 292 (Gulf Beach Highway) will see nighttime paving operations between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. the week of October 25, with a reduced speed limit of 35 mph already in effect near Patton Drive and Mills Avenue. Downtown, Business U.S. 98 (Garden Street) between Pace Boulevard and the I-110 ramp remains under construction with temporary two-lane traffic, and drivers should expect temporary closures on B Street and C Street for stormwater drainage work this week.
