Gulf Breeze, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- A Santa Rosa County judge has approved moving Brandon Aydelott, the Gulf Breeze teen who killed his mother in 2013, to a less restrictive mental health facility in Tallahassee. Aydelott was found not guilty by reason of insanity for stabbing and beating Sharon Aydelott to death on Christmas Eve when he was a teenager. He was diagnosed with schizophrenia and spent 11 years at Florida State Hospital. Staff at the Apalachee Center say the 29-year-old has been compliant with medication and has had no behavioral issues. But the prosecutor and Aydelott's aunt opposed the move, citing concerns about a positive marijuana test last year. Judge Clifton Drake approved the transfer but ordered weekly drug tests and said Aydelott cannot move again without court approval.
