INVESTIGATION INTO ATM THEFT CONTINUES

An investigation continues after a brazen ATM theft at an Escambia County convenience store just over one week ago... Sheriff Chip Simmons says the last time ATM's were targeted it was part of a larger theft ring. He says investigators are working to determine whether this latest incident was isolated. Simmons says many stores have moved their ATM machines to different locations in the store to make them harder to steal. He also says the value of the ATM machine is likely much smaller than the damage caused by the thieves ramming through the building to get to it.
