International Paper Investing $65K in Local Nonprofits

Escambia County, FL (Newsradio 92.3) -- International Paper's Pensacola Mill is investing 65-thousand dollars in local nonprofits this year. The mill awarded grants to nine organizations focused on education, health, hunger relief, and environmental projects. The largest grant—15-thousand dollars—goes to Sacred Heart Foundation to create a sensory room at Studer Family Children's Hospital. The space will help children with sensory processing challenges and anxiety. Another major grant supports Jim Allen Elementary School's science and social studies program. Regional Communications Manager Whitney Fike says the grants are about creating meaningful, lasting change in the community. The funding covers everything from autism support programs to food banks to youth literacy initiatives.
