House Passes Ballot Initiative Overhaul

Florida is a step closer to overhauling the citizen-led ballot initiative process. The House on Thursday passed HB 1205. It would impose new requirements on groups sponsoring proposed constitutional amendments, including a one-million-dollar bond for petitioners and background checks for those collecting signatures. A similar bill is being considered in the Senate.
