Gulf Breeze, FL (NewsRadio 92.3) -- Former Gulf Breeze plastic surgeon Ben Brown was back in court Tuesday as his manslaughter case moves toward an August trial. Brown is charged in the twenty-twenty-three death of his wife Hillary, who died a week after a procedure at his Gulf Breeze surgery office. The medical examiner ruled her death was caused by lidocaine toxicity. Brown's attorneys are challenging the medical examiner's qualifications in a Daubert hearing set for July seventh, arguing she lacks the toxicology expertise to testify about lethal lidocaine levels. Defense attorneys are also requesting a change of venue — a motion the presiding judge called highly unusual. Trial is set for August seventeenth.
