FP&L EXPLAINS NEW RATE PROPOSAL

Pensacola FL (NewsRadio 92-3) Florida Power and Light customers could see an increase in power bills in the coming years. The company is proposing a four-year base electric rate increase, citing customer demand and inflation. FPL sent a letter to the public service commission on Monday with a proposal to raise base electric rates. If approved, the average customer could see their bill jump by about 2.5% each year from now until 2029. The proposal still needs to be approved. FPL says it will file a detailed proposal on Feb. 28.
