Florida's Hunting, Fishing Tax Holiday Runs Through Year-End

Florida's four-month sales tax holiday for outdoor enthusiasts is now in effect through December 31, offering shoppers tax breaks on a wide range of gear and equipment.

The holiday covers hunting, fishing, and camping items with varying price limits. Shoppers can save on tents, fishing rods, and other traditional outdoor gear — though individual items are subject to price caps. Firearms and tactical accessories, however, have no price limitations, meaning the full sales tax exemption applies regardless of cost.

The break applies to both in-store and online purchases from Florida retailers. For Escambia County and surrounding areas with significant hunting and fishing traditions, the holiday provides savings during the peak season for outdoor recreation. Shoppers interested in stocking up on gear before the holidays or planning winter hunting and fishing trips have about six weeks to take advantage of the tax savings.

More details about specific price limits and qualifying items are available through the Florida Department of Revenue.
