Florida AG Says Open Carry Is The Law Of The State

(Tallahassee, FL) -- A recent court ruling could be good news for Florida gun owners. Attorney General James Uthmeier released a Guidance Memorandum yesterday on the state's Open Carry law. Uthmeier says a federal appeals court ruled last week law-abiding citizens have the right in Florida to carry firearms openly in public under the Second Amendment. Uthmeier writes on X this ruling means that as of last week, open carry is the law of the state. He adds, though, it doesn't mean you can exhibit a gun in a rude, careless, angry or threatening manner in public. Also, felons are still banned from possessing guns.
