FEMA's National Flood Insurance Claims Could Top $7B

(Washington, DC) -- FEMA officials say Hurricane Helene could lead to up to seven-billion dollars in flood insurance claim losses. The agency's National Flood Insurance Program has already disbursed over one-point-four-billion dollars to policyholders affected by flood losses. More than 520-million dollars of this money was in the form of advance payments. Over 56-thousand policyholders have filed claims in the months since the storm hit.
