FDOT to resurface SR 89 in Milton; virtual update planned

The Florida Department of Transportation is holding a virtual project update for a major resurfacing effort on State Road 89 (Dogwood Drive) between U.S. 90 and S.R. 87 in Milton.

The roughly $20-million project will resurface existing travel lanes, auxiliary lanes, median crossovers, and paved shoulders. Beyond repaving, FDOT plans to upgrade pedestrian infrastructure to meet Americans with Disabilities Act standards, add buffered bike lanes, and improve traffic signals, signs, pavement markings, drainage, and lighting. No additional land acquisition will be needed.

Construction bids are scheduled for early 2028. Project details—including maps, drawings, and timelines—are available online at https://storymaps.arcgis.com/collections/18effe29792f49d9ae6f41f587c9c0e2. Residents can also contact project manager James Duvall at (850) 415-9021 or jduvall@hntb.com to review materials.

Public comments on the project update are due by Thursday, Dec. 10, 2026.
