Escambia County Felon Pleads Guilty to Federal Meth, Gun Charges

A 26-year-old Escambia County man has admitted in federal court to drug trafficking and weapons violations, according to court records. Travis W. Carroll pleaded guilty to three federal counts: possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession of a firearm or ammunition as a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking.

The guilty plea comes after federal authorities charged Carroll with combining criminal drug activity with illegal weapons possession—a combination that typically results in enhanced penalties under federal law. As a previously convicted felon, Carroll was prohibited from possessing firearms under federal statute, making the weapons charges particularly serious.
