District 1 Race Heats Up

She is running, again, in the most conservative congressional district in Florida. But Democrat Gay Valimont knows she faces an uphill battle after losing by a two-to-one margin to Matt Gaetz back in November, who resigned several weeks later. Valimont faces Republican Jimmy Patronis in the April 1 Special Congressional Election. Patronis and Valimont both said they will work to protect District 1’s military bases, improve services for veterans and lower homeowners insurance costs. But they have completely different views on most domestic issues and their view of President Trump’s first two months in office. With Election Day almost here, both candidates said their ultimate goal is to serve the people of Northwest Florida.
