Escambia County (Newsradio 92.3) -- Demolition is underway on the Pensacola Bay Fishing Pier more than five years after Hurricane Sally damaged it. Escambia County posted video Thursday showing pieces of the bridge being removed. The pier will be replaced with a new structure mirroring the original design. The nearly 23 million dollar project is 95 percent funded by F-E-M-A and the state of Florida, with the county paying about one-point-14 million. The project is expected to be completed by summer 2027.
