Decision Expected in Alligator Alcatraz Case

(Miami, FL) -- A Miami Federal judge will decide Wednesday if operations and construction can resume at the immigration detention facility known as Alligator Alcatraz. The judge previously ruled in favor of an environmental advocacy group who called for a shutdown of the facility until an environmental study can be completed. The temporary order blocked any construction at the site for two weeks, but did allow it to continue to house detainees. After Tuesday's hearing concluded, the judge said will issue her ruling Wedensday that will override the temporary ruling, either further halting construction or allowing it to resume as this case continues.
