Dauphin Island Gets Grant for Wheelchair-Accessible Beach Mats

Dauphin Island has secured funding to install 750 feet of handicap-accessible mats at its beaches, the town announced this week. The mats will allow visitors with mobility challenges easier access to the shoreline. The funding comes as communities across the Gulf Coast continue expanding accessibility improvements at popular recreational areas. Dauphin Island, located off the Alabama coast and a popular destination for Panhandle residents, joins other regional beaches in prioritizing inclusive access for all visitors.
