Colorado State University is out with its first forecast for the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season. Dr. Philip Klotzbach and his team of researchers are calling for an "above-normal" season with 17 named storms, nine hurricanes and four major hurricanes of at least Category 3. The relatively warm Atlantic waters and the likely absence of an El Niño weather pattern are the main drivers for the higher-than-average prediction. The researchers remind coastal residents that it only takes one hurricane making landfall to make it a bad season. The six-month hurricane season begins June 1st.
