Century OKs $522K Payment Plan for Highway 29 Utility Work

The Century Town Council has approved a zero-interest repayment agreement with the Florida Department of Transportation for utility relocation costs along Highway 29, totaling $522,555.71.

The council voted on the revised promissory note during a brief Tuesday night meeting that lasted just seven to eight minutes. The agreement allows the town to spread out payments for the relocation expenses without accruing interest.

Utility relocation projects like the one on Highway 29 are typically required when state transportation improvements demand that power lines, water lines, and other infrastructure be moved to accommodate road work. The zero-interest arrangement helps smaller municipalities manage the significant costs associated with these necessary relocations.
