Escambia County, FL (NewsRadio 92.3) -- Escambia County Schools Superintendent Keith Leonard says Booker T. Washington High School's HVAC overhaul is still underway as students return to class Wednesday - and says some disruption is expected to continue into the first semester before the project wraps up.

"That's about an 18-month project, " Leonard told Jennifer Harrison on Pensacola's Morning News on Monday. "Last year... I was having to move students from one wing to another wing while we were doing that project. They were really steadfast and overcame a bunch of obstacles."

Leonard says students may continue to work around the work for the first semester this year. He says the district has been working on the project all summer and says students and staff at Booker T. have shown great flexibility throughout. Classes resume for all 31,000 Escambia County students this Wednesday.
