BJ's Employee Charged in $18K Theft Scheme Using Fake Scanning

A 71-year-old Boynton Beach BJ's Wholesale Club employee has been arrested after police say he helped customers steal nearly $18,000 in merchandise over several months.

Angel Camacho-Flores worked at the store's exit, where investigators say he would fake-scan items to make fraudulent purchases appear legitimate. The scheme allowed customers to walk out with unpaid merchandise while the transactions looked legal on the register.

Police say Camacho-Flores admitted his role in the theft ring. Rather than receiving cash payments, he told authorities he was compensated with groceries and gift cards from the store. Investigators did not disclose how many customers may have been involved or over what specific time period the thefts occurred.

The case remains under investigation. Camacho-Flores is facing theft charges related to the scheme.
