Escambia County, FL (NewsRadio 92.3) -- The administrative aide to Escambia County District Four Commissioner Ashlee Hofberger has resigned. Escambia County officials say Melanie Luna's last day was May 29th. Luna had been at the center of public criticism over a text message exchange connected to the controversial hiring of Christal Bell-Rivera as director of West Florida Public Libraries earlier this year. Hofberger says the decision was mutual and is not directly tied to the library controversy. Luna has been with Hofberger since the commissioner was appointed to the position in October of 2024.
