(Washington, DC) -- Rick Scott wants an end to what he calls the Schumer Shutdown. Senator Scott wrote yesterday on X that Democrats are harming American families after refusing to reopen our government 12 times. He says this is putting crucial benefits for moms, babies and our nation's most vulnerable at risk. Scott adds "this is reckless."

Our Florida District 1 Congressman says he's supporting a constitutional amendment that would change how Congressional pay works -- and would make it so the House and Senate don't get paid during a government shutdown. The legislation has been filed by Ralph Norman, Florida Senator Rick Scott is sponsoring similar legislation in the Senate. Jimmy Patronis tells Newsradio that he is co-sponsoring legislation for a constitutional amendment on the issue. Changing Congressional pay would have to be done through a constitutional amendment -- that requires a two-thirds vote in both the House and Senate, or a Constitutional Convention. If an amendment went that route, Patronis said 30 states have ratified the amendment so far, it would take 38 to become part of the U.S. Constitution.
