The man fell approximately 25 feet down the steep embankment. Fire Rescue and EMS personnel coordinated the rescue operation to reach and extract the injured person from the difficult terrain.

ECFR saves Mackey Drive home from total loss in Tuesday fire

Escambia County Fire Rescue prevented a home from being completely destroyed after responding to a structure fire on Mackey Drive on Tuesday afternoon. According to an ECFR Facebook post, firefighters arrived at the 2000 block of Mackey Drive and worked to contain and extinguish the blaze.

The fire was tied to recovery efforts following Hurricane Isaias, according to WKRG News 5. Details on the exact cause and how recovery work may have contributed to the fire were not immediately detailed.

No information was provided on injuries or the extent of damage to the home. The quick response by county firefighters was credited with preventing the structure from being a total loss.

PENSACOLA, Fla. — Florida Power & Light reports fewer than 10,000 customers remain without electricity in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties as Hurricane Isaias restoration work enters its final stages, but some local residents say the utility's outage system is showing their service as restored when their homes remain without power.

FPL's 6 a.m. Wednesday figures showed 5,770 customers without power in Escambia County and 3,710 in Santa Rosa County, for a combined 9,480 outages.

That was down from 12,680 customers at 11 p.m. Tuesday and more than 43,000 Tuesday morning.

FPL announced Tuesday night that it had restored electricity to more than 95% of customers affected by Hurricane Isaias.

NewsRadio 92.3, however, has received a growing number of reports from listeners who say FPL's system lists their addresses as restored even though electricity has not returned.

FPL advises customers who receive a restoration notification but remain without electricity to first check their breakers, if it is safe to do so, and report the outage again.

The listener reports raise questions about whether FPL's published totals capture all remaining individual outages. NewsRadio has not established how widespread the discrepancies are or whether they materially affect the utility's countywide restoration figures.

FPL crews continue working on remaining outages, including locations with extensive equipment or property damage.
